West Kent Soul Choirs present 'Candlelit Soul'

As we approach the end of term and our many performances, we wanted to once again ask for your auditions for the solos in the choir songs (at all performances) and for Chamber Choir AND some solo songs (whole song) which will feature at our Candlelit Soul concert on 30th November only.

Choir Song Soloists

We will be needing soloists for the following choir songs:

Brighter Days: Tenor and Alto

Man in the Mirror: Tenor

This Christmas: Any

New Christmas song (coming!): Soprano or alto

In order to audition for a solo, we ask you to sing one of the solo sections into your phone or recording device with the backing track / full mix on in the background but low so we can still hear it (and see how you are singing along with it) We do NOT need a video - a voice recording is fine, and we definitely need to hear the accompaniment (we suggest you play the track via your computer and then sing your solo into your phone using voice memo or irecorder etc).

NB we may give a different solo to the one you request but do let us know your preference.

Chamber Choir

We will, once again, be featuring a song performed by a Chamber Choir at our Candlelit Soul concert on 30th November (only), this will be the beautiful Winter Song by Sara Bareilles / Ingrid Michaelson - you can listen to the arrangement in the Member's Area. We will be looking for a choir of 12 for this - 4 on each part and, within that, one solo soprano and one solo alto.

To audition for Chamber Choir, simply do a recording as above but singing your vocal part for one of our current arrangements (just a minute or so is fine). Sing along to the full mix with it playing quietly in the background so we can hear you very clearly. We are looking for people who can hold their part and who would feel confident to learn their part for this arrangement at home - you will get one or two chances to sing it through in the final weeks of rehearsal, and again on the day of the concert.

Solo Song

We would also like to add around 4 solo songs to the programme for the Candlelit Soul concert. If you would like to do this, please submit a short excerpt of the song you are thinking of and state at the start what the song is and a 2nd choice of song as an alternative.

We really hope you will give either a solo / solo song or chamber choir a go this term - it's a wonderful way of challenging yourself and improving your singing and confidence. We are especially keen to hear from those who haven't done a solo or been part of Chamber Choir before.  Give it a go!
